You can delete your VJ Industries account and the personal information attached to it at any time. There are two routes: from inside the app, or by asking us. Both end in the same place.
If you still have the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.
- Open the VJ Industries app and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Open Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, then confirm.
You will be signed out straight away and will not be able to sign in again. Nothing further is needed from you.
If you have already uninstalled the app
Send us a deletion request and we will do it for you. Email or message us with the following, so we can be sure the request is genuine:
- The subject line Delete my account.
- The mobile number your account is registered under.
- The name on the account.
- If you have one to hand, the order number of any past order. This is the quickest way for us to confirm the account is yours.
Where to send it
We may call the registered number to confirm it is you before we delete anything. We acknowledge requests within 7 days and complete them within 30 days.
What gets deleted
Removed from our records outright:
- Your mobile number and your email address. The number is freed, so it can be registered again later as a brand-new account.
- Your password.
- Your saved delivery addresses.
- Your wishlist, your saved order lists and your cart.
- Notifications we had sent you, and your notification preferences.
- Every signed-in session, on every device — you are signed out everywhere immediately.
What stays attached to your past orders
We do not erase orders you have already placed, because we have to account for them. What remains is reduced to the least that leaves those orders explicable:
- Your name, marked as deleted, with the last four digits of your phone number — for example [Deleted] A. Sharma (7890). The full number is gone; this is what lets us match a past order to its invoice and its payment if a question about it ever comes up.
- Your GSTIN, if you had one, because it is printed on invoices already issued to you and has to agree with them.
- Your reward points history. Any unredeemed balance is forfeited — points cannot be transferred or paid out.
- Return and warranty claims, and any photo you uploaded with one or with a payment, as the record of how that claim was settled.
- The orders and their invoices, for the period set out below.
None of it is used to contact you, none of it is used for marketing, and none of it can be used to sign in.
What we have to keep, and why
Tax invoices cannot be deleted
Indian tax law requires a business to retain its invoices, so we must keep the invoices for orders you have already placed — including the name, address and GSTIN printed on them — for eight years from the end of the financial year the order was placed in. That covers the retention GST and income-tax law impose on us.
They are kept only to satisfy that obligation. They are not used for anything else, they are not used to contact you, and they are deleted once that period ends.
Beyond that, sign-in records hold no readable phone number — only a hash of it — and delete themselves 90 days after they were created, whether or not you close your account.
Reviews you wrote
A product review you wrote stays on the product, shown against your name in its deleted form. If you would rather it came down, ask us before you delete the account, or tell us afterwards using the contact details above and we will remove it.
Deleting some of your data, without closing the account
You do not have to choose between keeping everything and losing the account. These you can remove yourself, at any time, and they are gone from our records when you do:
- Saved delivery addresses — Account → Saved addresses, then delete any you no longer want us to hold.
- Your wishlist and saved order lists — remove individual items, or a whole list.
- Your cart — empty it.
- Your email address — clear the field in Account → Edit profile if you would rather we held only your phone number.
- Notifications — Account → Notifications turns off the categories you do not want. Notifications already sent are deleted once you have read them.
For anything else — a review you wrote, a payment screenshot you uploaded, a return claim, or any specific record you want gone — ask us using the contact details above and say what you want deleted. We will remove whatever we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly if something falls under the invoice retention described below.
Before you delete
- Open orders. If you have an order in progress, wait for it to be delivered or cancel it first. We cannot deliver to an account that no longer exists.
- Outstanding dues. If your account is on credit terms with an unpaid balance, settle it first. Deleting the account does not clear what is owed.
- Invoices. Download any invoices you want to keep from Account → Orders before you delete, as you will no longer be able to reach them.
- It cannot be undone. Deletion is permanent. If you want to buy from us again later, we will set up a new account for you from scratch.
Deleting the app is not the same thing
Uninstalling the app removes what was stored on your phone, but your account and its records stay with us until you delete the account or ask us to. If you want the account gone, use one of the two routes above.
